Some PII is sensitive information, such as social security numbers and personal email addresses. Other PII is non-sensitive information, including business telephone numbers and office locations. We handle all PII carefully and prudently.
We will always handle your information with the utmost candor and transparency. HT Law is committed to abiding by all applicable privacy laws, including, but not limited to, online security, data collection, marketing to minors, and otherwise.
Information We Collect
HT Law collects information about your behaviors while using www.hebertthomaslaw.com. Such behaviors include how you navigate the website and how you arrived at the website. This information is collected without your active disclosure using cookies and other tracking technologies.
Additionally, we collect information that you actively disclose to us, including your name, phone number, email address, company name, and details about legal matters. We may also collect your social security number and credit card information in the process of corporate formation or otherwise. This information may be provided to us by phone, email, or completion of a form, including a popup form, on this website. Some of these items constitute PII and others are sensitive information.
Use of Your Information
The use of information that we collect about you is for: the improvement of our digital marketing; to communicate with you regarding your legal matter; to send you correspondence that we believe you will find useful; to tailor our information and service offerings to your needs and preferences; and for all other lawful commercial purposes.
Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies
Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, however, you can modify your browser settings to decline cookies. Please see your browser’s Help menu for instructions. Disabling cookies may decrease the functionality and efficiency of some features while using our website.
Additionally, some web browsers may offer “Do Not Track” features. By enabling such features, the browser sends a signal to the websites you visit, informing them of your preference to not be tracked. Unfortunately, we do not respond to these signals as we lack the resources to do so.
Protection of Your Information
Safeguarding the privacy of your information, especially your PII, is very important to us. We take active steps to keep your information secure while it is in our possession. Your PII is kept behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of people who are required to maintain confidentiality.
We retain PII only as necessary. In the disposal of PII, we shred all paperwork containing sensitive PII.
Disclosing Your Information to Third-Parties
We may, on occasion, allow our affiliated company (a company that shares common management, i.e. Empuls3, LLC) and MailChimp (through which our Email Newsletter Subscriptions are being provided) to send offers or information to you. However, HT Law will never rent or sell your name, email address, or home or business address to any non-affiliated third-party person or company.
Third-Party Privacy Policies
Occasionally, we may provide links from the hebertthomaslaw.com website to, or display information, products, and services from, third-party websites. We take no responsibility for the privacy policies of these third-party websites. Third-parties will handle your information according to their own privacy policies and you should review and understand their separate policies.
Unsubscribing from Our Email Newsletters and Lists
HT Law is committed to not overwhelming you with emails and offers. However, we will contact you if we have something to relay to you that we believe may pique your interest. In doing so, HT Law sends out a regular email newsletter.
At all times, we comply fully with all requirements of the CAN-SPAM Act, which establishes rules for commercial email and authorizes tough penalties for violation of recipient rights to stop publishers and marketers from sending unwanted emails.
If you wish to stop receiving emails from us, please click here. We will immediately cease to contact you by email unless we are lawfully required to contact you for some other reason.
COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
Children under the age of 13 are protected by (“COPPA”), Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which allows parental control over the collection of PII from their children. COPPA also details how operators of websites and online services are to protect children’s privacy and safety online.
We do not direct our marketing efforts to anyone under the age of 18, nor do we believe that users under 18 are interested in our services or spend any time on the www.hebertthomas.com website.
To comply with the Fair Information Practices Principles, which form the basis of privacy law in the United States, if we ever experience a data breach, we agree to notify users by email within five business days. We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle, which grants you the right to pursue legally enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to abide by the law.
